History and Mission of the Symposium
The International Association for Boundary Element Methods (IABEM) provides a forum for researchers and engineers around the world to discuss recent developments in the Boundary Element Method (BEM) and new challenges ahead. It fosters and facilitates scientific interaction, discussion and cooperation among mathematicians, computer scientists and engineers with background in the field of BEM. The Association has been organizing international symposia for more than 20 years. The last six symposia were held in Paris (1998), Brescia (2000), Austin (2002), Minneapolis (2004), Graz (2006) and Brescia (2011).
The next symposium IABEM 2013 will be held at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (PUC) in Santiago, Chile on January 9-11, 2013. IABEM 2013 is being organized jointly by the Faculties of Engineering and Mathematics of the PUC. All sessions, meetings and coffee breaks will take place in the San Agustín building of the Faculty of Engineering.
There will be a special session to honor Prof. Ernst P. Stephan on the occasion of his 65th birthday.
The conference language is English and will be required for all presentations.
When attending IABEM 2013 there is a good opportunity to participate in WONAPDE 2013 as well. It is the fourth Chilean Workshop on Numerical Analysis of Partial Differential Equations, an international event, and will be held in Concepción right after IABEM 2013. Concepción is about 500 km south of Santiago and connected by direct flights from the capital.
IABEM is affiliated organization of the International Union of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (IUTAM).
